Our surf lessons cater to beginner and intermediate level surfers. Even First Time NEWBIE SURFER’S are welcome to attend.
Our surf lessons are for ages 5 and up. Kids 10 and under will need their own designated instructor, an “Additional Instructor Fee” will apply.
YES, you can sign up for a beginner surf lesson even if you are not a strong swimmer. We teach our beginner classes in small waves that break in shallow water close to shore. The water depth is comparable to the shallow end of a pool. *Floatation jackets for kids and adults are available with advance request.
All beginner surf classes are 90 minutes.
We provide state of the art surfboards tailored to your specs, longsleeve 50 SPF Rashguards and high-top neopreme Booties for your feet. * Floatie vests are available on request for students who are not strong swimmers.
Everyone should apply ‘Reef Friendly’ sunscreen before heading to the beach, this way it has a chance to absorb in to your skin. Things to bring with you: towels, water, snacks, a dry change of clothes for after you surf & definitely bring your camera!
There are no bathrooms/showers/changing facilities at the beach so definitely have everyone hit the restroom at your place before heading down.
It’s important to be on time for your lesson. Try to arrive at the beach 15 minutes early so you have plenty of time to find parking, meet your instructor and get fitted for your rashguard and booties.
If you need to cancel for any reason just give us 48 hours notice for a full refund. This gives us time to fill your spot and adjust staffing where needed. Inside of 48 hours there are no refunds.

YES! Each day we provide all necessary surfing equipment tailored to your skill level. We have soft boards for the beginners, and hard boards for the intermediate surfers who are ready to make the transition. If you have your own rashguard or wetsuit top feel free to bring it, but we do provide state of the art UPF 50 longsleeve rashguards as well as high-top reef booties ( surf shoes ).
All surf classes are totally private 90 minute sessions. We will never add people to your lesson. This is to say the only people in your class will be the people you book into it.
Each day you can expect to learn new tricks and techniques that are sure to make you a sharper surfer. Wave selection, crowd etiquette, paddling, pop-up’s, carving, stance and style are key topics each session. We help you spot your strengths and weaknesses and show you how to avoid making bad habits. This will set you on course to learn at an accelerated pace.
Everyone should apply ‘Reef Friendly’ sunscreen before leaving to the beach. Putting it on in advance will allow the sunscreen to absorb in to your skin before entering the ocean. For beach attire: Bring your swimsuit, towels, water, snacks and a dry change of clothes for after. And make sure to bring your phone to stay in touch: If the weather or waves turned bad the day of your lesson, we would call you to change beaches or reschedule.
Hawaii is warm year around, so best to pack light as possible: For Spring and summer trips bring a few bathingsuits, walk-shorts, t-shirts, hoodie, hat, sunglasses, shoes, sandals, towel, sunscreen & definitely bring your camera! For winter months it’s very much the same list, but days and nights can be a bit cooler. Rain is also more prevalent in certain areas of the island in winter months. However, short of a passing storm, plan on winter days being every bit as hot and sunny as summer. A jacket and long pants are a smart idea any time of the year, especially if you plan to visit Haleakala Crater – Temps on this 10,400+ft summit can reach freezing on any given day.
The Southwest side of Maui is where you will be surfing. The stretch of coastline between Ukumehame and Lahaina has appropriate waves for beginner and intermediate level surfers to practice in year round.
If you need to cancel your Multi-Day Itinerary for any reason, just give us 48 hours notice for a full refund. This gives us time to fill your lesson spots and adjust staffing where needed. Inside of 48 hours we charge you for the full price of your lesson itinerary.
Advanced Sessions are for 1 or 2 surfers who ride at a strong intermediate level or better. All sign ups should be able to paddle in strong currents and be comfortable in open ocean wave conditions.
Bring your phone, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, water, snacks and a dry change of clothes for after you surf.
YES! We provide top of the line fiberglass surfboards tailored to your specs, as well as rashguards and wetsuit tops. We also have reef booties if needed.
Sorry but the answer is No. the Advanced Session Tour is only for the sign-ups.
Advanced Sessions are a 4 hour Tour.
Advanced Sessions are a “wave permitting” tour that run in winter months only. From time to time spring and summer south swells do produce appropriate waves for experienced surfers to challenge themselves, but not often enough to count on. Hawaii’s winter surf season ( November to March ) is with out question the best time of year for advanced level surfers to visit.
If you need to cancel for any reason just give us 48 hours for a full refund. This gives us time to fill your spot and adjust staffing where needed. Inside of 48 hours there are no refunds.
The more notice the better on this one, as Brian will have to block out the entire morning for your Advanced Session. This is a “wave permitting tour”, so it’s a good idea to stay a little flexible. If the wave conditions are not “tour worthy” on your reserved day, Brian will try to reschedule you on a better looking day. In the event that the waves are not good enough to go during your available time frame, you will be refunded in full.
