WHEN SHOULD YOU GO: Wave conditions are typically best in the mornings before the wind picks up, so our standard start times are 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM. We use the FareHarbor online booking system—simply click the BOOK NOW button next to the lesson you’d like and follow the prompts to reserve your spot.

Afternoon lessons are available when wind and wave conditions permit. If you require a customized start time in the afternoon, you can fill out our CONTACT US form or call us at 808-870-SURF (we are also on WhatsApp), and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

ABOUT OUR SURF LESSON PROGRAM: SSM Surf lessons take place away from the crowds at Ukumehame Beach a.k.a. ” Thousand Peaks”. All necessary surf gear including surfboards, rash guards and booties will be provided for your lesson. At the beginning of class you will learn about water safety, wave etiquette and reef awareness. Coaches enter the water with you side-by-side and instruct with a “Hands-On” style of instruction that makes learning to surf fun and easy even for first timers. Students learn the most important fundamentals such as paddling, popping-up, stance, style, smooth turning and how to dismount safely back down to a seated position at rides end. This is the frame work that sets the tone for your entire experience, and you will find this instruction pays off BIG TIME once you’re in the line-up. With a little help picking out the right waves and skillful push-in’s from your coach, you will be up and surfing in no time. This is surfing made easy folks! Having the right coach, the right board and great waves is all it takes to get you started and stoked on SURFING. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 75, this is your chance to learn !

Private Surf Lesson

Soul Surfing Maui’s Private Surf Lessons are for students who prefer the most personalized one-on-one experience. Our world-class Coaches will assess where you are and what you need to make you more confident, more skilled, or just get you safely started on your first day. Our goal is to make this surf lesson a highlight experience, so please let us know if you have any special requests in regards to your lesson.

Private Surf Lesson Details

• One Person / $ 220+tax / Ages 5 and up / 90 minute class.

• We provide top of the line surfboards, long sleeve rashguards and booties.

• Long sleeve wetsuit tops and floaty vests are available for kids.

• Water Photography of your lesson is available. See our Photography page for details.

• Booking online is fast and easy. The online cutoff time for reservations for the following day is 6 PM. For late notice or same-day reservations, please call us at 808-870-SURF (we are also on WhatsApp), and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS

Semi-Private Lessons

Semi-Private Surf Lessons are a totally private class for 2 students with one instructor. A perfect choice for Couples or any 2 people that wish to learn together. We will pick the best spot on the beach to suit your ability level and all equipment will be tailored to each surfers specifications. Our world-class coaches will assess where you are and what you need to make you more confident, more skilled, or just get you safely started on your first day. Our goal is to make this surf lesson a highlight experience, so please let us know if you have any special requests in regards to your lesson.

If one of the students is age 9 or under, a second instructor will be added to the class. The additional coach fee is $100.00.

Semi-Private Lesson Details

• Two People / $ 130+tax per person /Ages 5 and up / 90 minute class.

• We provide top of the line surfboards, long sleeve rashguards and booties.

• Long sleeve wetsuit tops and floaty vests are available for kids.

FAMILY SURF LESSONS

Family Lesson

This is a private class for your group of 3 or 4 students, led by one instructor. We will select the best spot on the beach to match your group’s ability level, and all equipment will be provided. Our world-class coaches will assess where you are and what you need to make you more confident, more skilled, or just get you all safely started on your first day. Our goal is to make this surf lesson a highlight experience, so please let us know if you have any special requests in regards to your lesson.

*Kids age 9 and under will need their own private designated coach. The additional coach fee is $100.00. Not sure how many coaches your group needs? Just let us know your situation, and we’ll gladly advise.

Family Lesson Details

• For 3 or 4 People / Ages 5 and up / $ 100+tax per person / 90 minute class.

• We provide top of the line surfboards, long sleeve rashguards and booties.

This applies to your private group of 5 or more people. We will select the best spot on the beach to suit your group’s skill level, and all equipment will be provided. Our world-class coaches will assess where you are and what you need to make you more confident, more skilled, or just get you all safely started on your first day. Our goal is to make this surf lesson a highlight experience, so please let us know if you have any special requests in regards to your lesson.

• 5 or more People / $ 95+tax per person /Ages 5 and up / 90 minute class

WHEN SHOULD YOU GO: Wave conditions on Maui are ever changing – swell, wind and tide are factors to consider every lesson. Brian will assist in helping you select a custom start time that works for your schedule and coincides with the best wave conditions of your chosen day. On the Booking Form just let us know if you wish to go in the AM or PM and Brian will advise!
