Just received your DVD! It is fantastic, I love it!!!!! It's an awesome souvenir from a great vacation in Hawaii, the surfing with you
was brilliant! What a unique experience (especially the dawn patrols)... I am still
speechless when I watch the movie... Haven't seen myself smiling that
much for quite some time!!
Thanks for everything - Mahalo!!

Great morning of surfing. Really enjoyed it and I know Mike and Grace are hooked. Can't thank you enough!
You taught us all so much, and I know we have a lot to work on, but it what a blast!
We will continue to spread the word in Calgary that you are the "GO TO GUY" in Maui if you want to surf.
I will let you know when we are back in the area next.
We'll be you calling soon.
Cheers, Van -Van Dafoe, Calgary
Dear Brian -
I am now back in NZ but I sure am missing Maui! Thank you so much for an incredible 5 days of checking out different spots, learning to shortboard, trying to kick bad habits and getting out of the comfort zone in bigger stuff. It's clear you have passion for coaching and just love what you do! You're also just a great character to be out on the water with, if a little bossy:) I am plotting my trip back so we can continue in my quest for perfect small waves with no one on them!
See you soon:) Rachel -Rachel Glasier, New Zealand
That was so hot, and so cool for Matt and I. Surfing had gotten away
from me, or I from it.
Not only the waves, but the sea. Just sitting out there with my
brother, in the solitude and peace of the early morning, waiting for
another set, for the first time in over 35 years. Words cannot
express the satisfaction and what it meant to me, Brian my brother.
You were indeed an excellent steward of our experience.
Thanks again my man.
PS: Only family and very close friends from way back in St.
Ausgustine call me Johnny. Professionally and socially it is always
John. But when you did, it felt as natural as surfing. -Johnny Fisher, Florida
I just wanted to send you a quick thank you email….Shaun, Kelly and I had a blast surfing with you. Shaun is hitting the surftech web page hard to pick out his next board…Second Wind had the 6”1 board but not the 6’3…he is still deciding….
Kelly learned a lot with your help and I am sure she will want to upgrade her board as well.
Thanks for making our Maui time so enjoyable - it was the kids highlight! We'll look forward to surfing with you again next trek over.

This past winter, I was looking for a surf guide to help me navigate Maui’s lineups and found much more with Soul Surfing Maui. Brian (the owner) knows the lay of the land and put me in a position to score some of the best waves of my life! I was also sincerely impressed with Brian’s safety-first mentality. I never felt in harms’ way, despite surfing new breaks and sizable waves.
Having hired other guides on other trips, I think it’s good for others to know the "Full Day Tour" prices are inclusive – so, along with Brian's expertise as a guide, the one price landed me a board rental, food, and a 30 minute video of the trip (with over 150 pics!).
Would 100% recommend Brian's day tours for those wanting to catch some great waves with no crowds - You won’t regret it.
I Will be in touch next time I’m headed your way, Brian! -Joshua Clarkson, Jacksonville, Fl.
I just wanted to send you a note to thank you for the surfing lessons and letting the kids surf longer on their second day. We all really enjoyed surfing and I think the kids are hooked now. You certainly made the lessons fun and we will be seeing you on our next trip to Maui (which hopefully will not be too far away!). We also really appreciated your recommendations on places to visit as well as places to eat. We made it to Paia and had lunch at the fish market and walked up the twin falls, both of which we enjoyed.
Thank you again for everything! -Darlene Noble, Calgary
Just wanted to check in and say thanks again for the amazing week of surfing. I'll never forget how despite being in my late 30's, with a desk job and practically no surfing experience, I got up on that board the very first try. Luck played no part in that- it was all the coordination before we even met, your knowledge of local conditions, selecting the right equipment for my abilities, and the confidence you instilled in me on the beach before we even got into the water. It set the tone for the entire week and allowed me to progress way beyond what I expected for the trip (I still show my friends how far the paddle out to the lineup was at S-Turns on Google Earth!) I brought that confidence back with me to Virginia- I now own my first board and check the surf reports every day, and can't wait to get back to Hawaii and build upon my new skills!
See you soon and Mahalo!

I had wanted to be a surfer my entire life and realized there was no better time or place to learn than my honeymoon in Maui. I really wanted to avoid the generic uninspired experience of a hotel resort surf lesson. After asking a hand full of locals for a recommendation I ended up in exactly the right place. Brian Decook and Soul Surfing Maui was precisely what I was seeking. With in twenty minutes I was catching waves all on my own and I was loving it! After 36 years I was finally on my way to being a surfer.
I am still in contact with Brian to this day and hope to someday visit Maui again for follow up lessons. Brian provides the authentic experience you are looking for with unbeatable hands on instruction. I HIGHLY recommend Soul Surfing Maui.

Aloha, My wife Jo (chilled) and me (pretty aggressive) wanted to learn to surf while in Maui. Not only did we want to learn to surf, we also wanted to continue progressive lessons on a daily basis during our entire trip. I had called and spoke to every surf shop on Maui and felt Brian's outfit was the only one who understood what we wanted and could provide challenging lessons. We booked with Brian immediately and he proceeded to exceed our expectations on the first day as we were both up and riding comfortably. We continued our lessons throughout the vacation, surfing at different sites which complemented our current level. I have to say that at the end of the trip we were extremely pleased with the lessons, our progress, and the entire vibe of the surf experience. By the end of the trip we were on boards two sizes shorter than when we started on, and left the island with huge grins and great sense of accomplishment. I would highly recommend Brian for surf lessons, and would be more than happy to talk with anyone about my experience in full detail. My cell is 312-593-4368. I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE, LOVE the DVD you made for us when Kylan and Kale were taking surfing lessons from you! I watch it at least once a day because it is so cool that you caught such an awesome time that was had by those boys. Everything about it is truly perfect (music, scenes etc). I make others watch it and recommend you to anyone I know going to Maui and looking for surfing lessons. Whenever you ask Kylan and Kale what their favorite part of being in Maui is they unanimously agree that the time surfing with you was their favorite (they didn't get to surf for the rest of the week ) We definitely hope to return soon and will be looking you up again!
Thanks so much again,
Kelly Johnson -Kelly Johnson, Shoreview Minnesota
I'm sitting in my office trying to work right now and my mind keeps replaying choice waves from our week together!!
I want to thank you for providing me with a truly incredible experience. Just tell people, and conversation was the best, and only heightened by the beauty of Maui. Up knowledge, culture, soul and the spirit of Aloha.
The key lessons I learned, that I will continue to work on in the water and in life are:
• Patience ( in the lineup and with others)
• Smooth movements
• Position (continually keeping an eye on the wave)
• Charge the wave ( and life)
Brian, the world is a better place having you here; I look forward to surfing with you and spending time in the future.
